Action Needed: Georgia Constitutional Carry Hearing – 9 Feb 12 – 0800 – Coverdell Bldg, Room 506

Pass to all your Georgia contacts, friends, and relatives:

Thanks to all of your hard work pressuring Representatives in the Georgia House, the Public Safety and Homeland Security committee has scheduled hearings on Constitutional Carry!

But don’t bother looking for a meeting announcement on the House calendar. House ‘leadership’ doesn’t want you to know about this meeting – so the meeting notice wasn’t published online.

Worse still is the fact that by the time you read this we’ll have less than 24 hours to respond!

You see John, certain politicians want “Constitutional Carry” to die a quiet death in committee while you aren’t looking. They want to be able to say that they “did all that they could,” but that it “just wasn’t the right time.”

Don’t be fooled by these politicians’ dirty tricks! Stand up and fight for your right to bear arms!

Contact these House Public Safety and Homeland Security members and demand a roll-call vote on Consitutional Carry in committee!

Georgia State Rep. Jason Spencer introduced legislation that will allow residents to carry a concealed firearm without first having to get a permit from the government.
Rep. Spencer told Georgia Gun Owners that, “Law-abiding citizens should not have to be fingerprinted and cataloged like common criminals just to be able to defend themselves, their family and their property.”
Indeed, violent thugs will not show up at the police station or sheriff’s office to apply for a permit. Yet, law-abiding gun owners are forced to apply for a permit, pay fees that can total more than $100, submit fingerprints, and then wait for approval.
All that to exercise what is supposed to be a fundamental, individual right.
The Georgia Constitution reads: “The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, but the General Assembly shall have the power to prescribe the manner in which arms may be borne.”
Well, hats off to Rep. Spencer for “prescribing” a manner of carry that truly respects the liberty of the people. His bill, HB 679, is great news for Peach State gun owners.
