  1. Post this:

The ultimate worst case scenario for self-defense against an active shooter. I am willing to bet SF individuals would be hard pressed to secure it quickly.

    1- low light condition

    2-smoke + possible chemical release

    3-panicked crowed

4-assailant dressed in dark colors to low light back drop

    5-body armor

    6- handgun v rifle fight

It would be more luck than skill if you were just chilling in your seat when the attack happened. Location vis-a-vis shooter would factor greatly into the outcome. A shoot house training scenario would only begin to teach how to deal with such a threat, but as I said even an SF out on leave with just a handgun would be hard pressed to take the scumbag down. This would be the type of threat situation that would make you ask God to miracle you nightvision an a SBR AR-15 with a micro AimPoint loaded with 75gr TAP rounds, which depending on God’s will may or may never happen; so, chalk that up to wishful.

The only real solution I would see would be if the people closest to the scumbag dogpiled on him. That would be asking much of the people we are surrounded by on a daily basis. It would mean risk and sacrifice. Logically the fighters among us understand this concept and the fact you are already under direct risk. The statement die on your feet would have direct meaning here, or to put in last decade’s terms: “let’s roll.”

Be glad though because the bad guy was obviously skilled at making explosives. He could have just shown up with nailbombs, and that would have created even worse outcomes then last night. In a sense, and as usual, we luck out due to the bad guy being stupid. Bad guys usually are stupid. I guess stupidity and crime are linked, or at least evil and idiocy. It could have been far worse, and in that we are once again blessed in a mitigated outcome.

+Prayers for the victims: may their souls be at rest. Prayers for the survivors: learn to throw a punch. Amen+

    *ETA*

I have decided to see what the media is jibber jawing about, and it ranges from zOMG11! guns to ban comic books and movies! See this stuff does not just lead to an attack on the Second Amendment. It also is utilized for an attack on the First Amendment. See if the bad guy did not see a movie trailer, read a comic book, or heard a mouse fart on Christmas Eve (that last part is sarcasm on my part) we would not have these problems.

So in the next few days or weeks what one will hear is ban certain movies, games, books, and music. It will not just be ban firearms. It will be ban this and that because that will make the world safe from evil, which we all know it won’t. Sadly society is too immature to understand that fact.

We live in a world surrounded by idiots that would prosecute the rock thrown through your window instead of the kid on a bicycle that threw it. It is all the rock’s fault! The kid is innocent! This is why it is firearms’ and multi-media’s fault. It is not the individual that chose evil. Nobody would ever do something atrocious like that in this world! No the inanimate objects that possess no soul of any type (vegetative, animus, or rational) and therefore no mens rea, is what is at fault!

    And then this:

Will + Tools + Intelligence = Positive outcome

Will + Tools – Intelligence = Possible Bad Outcome

    Will – Tools – Intelligence = Martyrdom

No Will + Tools + Intelligence = Victim

    No Will + Tools – Intelligence = Victim/Death

No Will – Tools – Intelligence = Death

      Wyn/21July12@02:40,

Your suggestion about dogpiling the shooter was actually done in Moses Lake/WA when a futz decided to do his thing. Killed 3 before being taken down by the gym coach & is doing double life + 205yrs. The most recent Flight 93-type story comes from Red China & shows that the “let’s roll” ethos gets the job done if the conditions are right, but ya gotta be careful, observant, determined, quick, vicious, & LUCKY. The passengers were all of that, they jumped the jackers, & summarily beat them to death. Funny thing, I’ve yet to see/hear of/read about the victors feeling the slightest bit of angst about TCB. Stout folk, those Chinese, & their lesson is yet another one of many similar that should be absorbed & emulated. Used to be most Americans were made of such stern, & decisive, stuff.

      Used to be.

  2. Now this ought to be interesting…

  3. You sure aren’t the first to wonder if this might be a false-flag type event…

I can’t figure out how the SOB got off so many rounds without someone jumping him!

News Tards all pumping how cops were on-scene within 90 seconds of the first 911 call, but they seem to be carefully avoiding the whole idea that even then the shooter had shot until he ran out of ammo – or just got tired. In either case, he stopped because *HE* decided to stop, not because the cops had arrived.

Once again, we see that the *only* thing capable of stopping “bad guy with a gun” is a “GOOD GUY WITH A GUN!”

COPS can only haul away bodies & talk to witnesses.

    You must protect YOURSELF!

Here’s a little something to use on the anti-2A/pro-thug cultists who’ll be blathering about “America’s gun violence epidemic”, & from a source that’s reliably Leftist & vehemently anti-2A as well: The Christian Science Monitor!

US crime rate at lowest point in decades. Why America is safer now.
    http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Justice/2012/0109/US-crime-rate-at-lowest-point-in-decades.-Why-America-is-safer-now

And should that prove insufficiently convincing, the stats from Holder’s FBI are available for back-up. To rebut the militia=Natl Guard 2A angle, I’ve found Perpich v Dept of Defense to be more than adequate, & for those who try the police protection ploy, Warren v District of Columbia does the job. For the inevitable gun user licensing/gun registration=crime prevention/reduction line, Haynes v United States has, for me, proved effective in shutting down that kind of BS. The kicker is reserved for those who’re dogged enough to stay after being slapped around by the previous facts & is simple but devastating. Just combine the CSMonitor article w/ the FBI stats & govt gun sales data & ask the obvious question:

“Why is it that the violent crime rate keeps dropping even though gun sales keep increasing?”

The reaction I get to that one is priceless.

    Have fun!

  5. BOHICA.

  6. Casandra,

I see you emphasized the word, lucky, in your first post.

Please, do not take this as some sort of attack on your post, but, in my experience, you MAKE your own breaks, luck has nothing to do with it.

Instead, I would emphasize two other words you used, determined and vicious. They are far more under your control than mere fate.

      theirritablearchitect,

No offense taken as none was, I assume, intended. My point is that to an extent one can make their own fortune as in CYA helps prevent KIA/PPPPPP, but, for example, when one moves one’s head 2 inches to the side milliseconds before a bullet unexpectedly goes thru that space, to me that’s luck. Same for a successful day at the races, rolling 15 straight passes at the dice table, having only a simple shoulder, arm, or leg break after a chute failure, etc. While such things do have elements of predictability that can sometimes be counted on & exploited if recognized in time, there’s always that unforseen variable out there that’s waiting to nab you a la Murphy.

And you know what a funster Murph is.

Some more things about this event. Regarding its, at best, odd nature, the description of Chicago Sean Connery gave Costner seems fitting. Also, isn’t it interesting that the same people who demand that this “common sense” restriction & that “reasonable” restriction be placed on adherents of the 2Amndt will erupt w/ ‘righteous’ indignation at the suggestion of voter ID & the profiling of people from groups w/ track records of frequent & often hideously violent behavior? And then there’s the famous ‘slippery slope’ argument which, when applied to restrictions on abortion & certain types of adult oriented entertainment, is deemed a “reasonable” & “entirely rational” viewpoint by the aforementioned who then declare its application to matters 2A to be “disingenuous”/”ridiculous”/”hysterical”/”insane”.

Wonder if anyone w/ serious juice’ll bring up & then aggressively push those points.

    Hope springs eternal.

“Colorado Batman shooting shows obvious signs of being staged”

    • right – the same clown squealing about “$20,000 in gear alone” and “6000 rounds of ammo – that’s $5000 right there!”

And “not just anyone can buy a ballistic helmet…” (which is true – you need to have at least $200 and access to Amazon)

Apparently he has never heard of CTD, surplus stores, gun-shows, Wolf, etc.

If he’s that clueless on the easily-checked stuff, how can i possibly believe him on anything else?
