A Sunday Contemplation

Please take the time to read AP’s work here, along with its embed.

Then read and think through the commentary.

There are those who exult idealistic martyrdom as the right path in the coming Cataclysm.

To those, I sincerely say, “God bless you”.

As for me and mine, I am a child of the Pacific war.

With everything that that heritage implies.

Sorting time’s almost finished.

Be right with the Code of your choosing.

  1. You are a child of God. Live as such, whatever straight and narrow path you take.

  2. I do not believe, as a Christian, that Christianity is the national religion. Never have, never will. But – the Judeo-Christian code of ethics, from the 10 Commandments, to “love thy neighbor as thyself” to honesty, truth, integrity, and outright morality, was used as our nation’s founding principles.

    Now, you can claim any path you’d like, but as this nation slowly started to distance itself from those traits, it started to fall apart. As the old country song goes, when there’s nothing to believe in, you’ll fall for anything. And so we have been falling for anything. From a moral stance on public television, I can now watch soft porn on network stations, and there is really nothing you cannot see on a cable subscription. Cursing and swearing is an everyday occurance. And no, that’s not all…

    From illegality to on-demand status, abortion has murdered more innocents than the Holocaust ever did. Our government even supports Planned Parenthood, and most of our politicians won’t touch the topic with a 10′ pole. It’s not a topic for public discussion. Homosexuality? When it comes out of the privacy of one’s home and starts being taught in our grade schools, it’s morally outrageous. And we have states like California openly support this.

    And we could go into the politicians lives themselves, with kick-backs, pay-offs and pure bribery – this has become a normal, everyday, expected activity. Morality, ethics, truth, integrity – you know, all those things that came largely from my Bible – are relics that don’t exist anymore in this “enlightened age.”

    Well, if that’s enlightenment, then I’, failing in it. I am a proud Christian, who believes not that this country should be a Christian nation, only that it should follow the tenets of absolute truth, and not the truth that men decide for themselves. “In God We Trust” is only a bitter reminder to those who would see this country fall that He is still here, if only on our money. And to have complete control, even that must go.

    Sorry, but when this nation threw God out, it brought upon itself what has been sown. And I ask you, in all honesty, where are we now? When Ann Graham, Billy’s daughter was asked why God would let a disaster like 9/11 happen, she answered: “I believe that God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we’ve been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman that He is, I believe that He has calmly backed out.”

    When this nation comes back to God, He will come back to this nation. And you can leave Christianity out of the quote. God is God.

  3. Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war:
    For with thee will I break in pieces the nations,
    And with thee will I destroy kingdoms:
    And with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;
    With thee also will I break in pieces old and young;
    And with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid; I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock;
    And with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen;
    And with thee will I break in pieces captains and rules.
    And I will render unto Babylon
    And to all the inhabitants of Chaldea
    All their evil that they have done in Zion
    In your sight, saith the Lord.

    Jeremiah 51:20-24

  4. When this nation comes back to God, He will come back to this nation. And you can leave Christianity out of the quote. God is God.

    Amen to that! Great quote TPaine! Going up on the wall.

  5. TPaine, you hit that one pretty good, and over the center field fence.
