  1. Dam that was good. Yet many will miss it or ignore it completely. The die is truly cast.

  2. I don’t buy it. I mean, collapse is inevitable, but it will take a long time.

One thing the author does not appear to count on is the willingness of the American People to buy any line of BS, as long as it keeps the happy fiction going and pushes the “unpleasantness” further down the road.

When FDR confiscated their gold, they meekly handed it in and happily accepted worthless scrip in return. When Nixon totally scrapped convertibility (even for foreign central banks), the American people STILL clung to the dollar. Hell, even today, if you took the average person and gave them a choice between $1000 and a 1-oz gold coin, the majority would eagerly take the cash. (Let’s not forget that there are still millions upon millions of people shoveling their money into retirement funds, blissfully ignorant that half of it is stolen no more than ten seconds after the direct deposit is made.)

The government could issue turd flakes, call it “Legal Tender for All Debts Public and Private”, and the people of this country would accept the fiction because they are terrified of what the alternative would imply. How do you convince a small child that his mother is evil? How do you convince a zealot that his god is dead? The American people will cling to the Lies to the bitter end because they choose to live the Lie, because the fantasy of wealth is infinitely preferable to the reality of destitution.

The Faith (fiat) that the American people have in government must be completely, utterly, irrevocably destroyed. Then, and only then, will collapse take place.

“For the moment he had shut his ears to the remoter noises and was listening to the stuff that streamed out of the telescreen. It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grammes a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grammes a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it. Parsons swallowed it easily, with the stupidity of an animal. The eyeless creature at the other table swallowed it fanatically, passionately, with a furious desire to track down, denounce, and vaporize anyone who should suggest that last week the ration had been thirty grammes.” (George Orwell, 1984)

  3. I think it will happen fast, for two reasons. One, the world being interconnected and largely electronic commo and financial business being conducted 24/7, when this starts, it will move at the speed of electricity. Two, in the developed nations where commerce and finance are at greatest peril, people have lived on a fast paced, get it now, and instant gratification track for several generations. Even as govts. urge calm, the citizens know two things. That the Ruling Class are filling their own lifeboats first, while telling us in steerage to stand by, and that if they don’t start scrambling for their own lives, chop-chop, they’re going to be gargling sand. The first shocks and realizations will put most of the population in panic mode, and they’ll stay there till they have concrete under their feet, not broadcasts, not govt. assurances, and least of all, govt. programs. For the last sixty years, govt. programs have been the wink and nod of conversation. People already know their govt. is dishonest and stupid. When it hits the fan, it’ll be every man for himself, no offence meant to the ladies. Ugly tis the day. Bet on it.

  4. I think they’re smarter than that and already have the next level ready to go. When this dollar dies why can’t they have a new one (Amero?) on hand? Think of the added control possibilities – you only get new ones by turning in the old. That wipes out every stash of cash in the country and Buh-by cash black market. The exchange rate can easily devalue the currency to whatever they want the new value to be. Say, ten dollars coverts to one Amero. One heck of a reset right there. Plus, the staff of the police state will get to be first in line and still see regular pay. I see it as a loyalty booster instead of a collapse of the machine.

    • Mr. Daniel: A frightening scenario. I am afraid it is all too true. The government minions will be right there to insure the full cooperation of the serfs. Also, the “clergy”, especially the rah-rah evangelical idiots who displayed their ignorance in South Carolina recently, will be cheerleading for Godly compliance with our Romans 13-ordained government masters. I live in just such a community on the southern coast of the Peoples Democratic Socialist Republic of Oregon. It is happening here right now with a push for increased taxes. Sad but true.

I’ve been having the same thoughts myself concerning the Amero. We may not see TSHTF, they will immediately begin shovelling Amero’s into the holes that appear, with the first ones going to the Gestapo payroll.
Makes perfect sense, and the proles will follow right along, it is after all, from the almighty FedGov, benevolent protector of the masses. Most folks I know won’t even realize what happened or why, but it sure averted a huge catastrophe, didn’t it?

  5. JM, Excellent point re the evangelical aspect. All things considered I think implementation will be pretty easy and most folks will be happy for the perceived safety and stability.
