Extremely well stated article. This is our world today.

  2. There are signs, and there are more signs. My father, who shook his head and muttered indelicate comments about my teenage viewings of Mad Max and The Road Warrior told me not too long ago that “it was probably a good thing I watched those”.

Yes, sire, i think now it was too. The great thinning is at hand.

“We’ll see you on the road, skag. We’ll see you on the road like we saw the Night Rider.”

      LFMayor/30July12@12:08,

Did you notice the initial sneeringly ‘superior’ attitude of the ‘civilized’ people toward Max in The Road Warrior & how it changed once they needed his ‘savagery’ to escape the crazies? Funny how that theme’s the basis for 2 other movies (The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance & Soldier) & may yet again be the case in real life if things go as bad as envisioned.

      Happenstance, or perhaps kismet?

  3. VDH would obey the authorities if they told him to get on the boxcars for relocation, or to surrender his farm to Soviet-type collective agriculture.

As I recall the Mad Max movies, they didn’t show any farms or factories. That makes for a short-term economic situation, perhaps six months until all the food and fuel was consumed.

    • Hey, Anonymous…

“VDH would obey the authorities if they told him to get on the boxcars for relocation, or to surrender his farm to Soviet-type collective agriculture.”

You know him personally? Pretty grand ass-uming you got going on there.

Even supposing you’re right, so what? Does that negate his perceptive, accurate and eloquent statement as to the facts as he sees them? In his own lifelong ancestral neighborhood?

Typical. Come on with an ad hominem. Follow with an irrelevancy. Avoid content, logic and relevant commentary. If you could think and write as well as VDH, you might have something to say worth reading.

        oughtsix/31July12@00:27,

Having seen & heard the good Prof on numerous occasions, I’ve also wondered which way he’d go in extremis & haven’t as yet made a determination. I’ve met more than a few of the chesty “By God!” types who folded when the heat was on & seen the opposite from the soft-spoken ones like the Prof. Personally observed a 19yo/6’1″/200lb high school linebacker drop to the ground in a dead faint after the Bang/POP airgun vaccination which only made the skinny Puerto Rican kid behind him say “Ow”. Your point about his demeanor being irrelevant to the veracity of his writings is correct, going by Patton’s voice & appearence you’d never know what a tiger he was, that Jimmy Stewart was a WW2/E.T.O. bomber pilot, or that John Wayne never spent a minute in the military.

Like Chuck Berry said: “You never can tell”.

Thats right Anonymous, then they spread like the social parasites they are having exhausted and destroyed the host. The first winter will be a real bitch.

  5. Pretty grand ass-uming you got going on there.

Project his track record forward — he’s already morally/philosophically surrendered to collective policing, which in South African style mostly restrains him instead of the vandals. He doesn’t write that majority vote itself is a big part of the problem, and that’s why I’m dismissive.

Does that negate his perceptive, accurate and eloquent statement as to the facts as he sees them? In his own lifelong ancestral neighborhood?

I find both facts and opinions in his piece. The reporting of property damaged is fact. The hand-wringing framing about how the only possible solution is change which descends from the clouds is an opinion about his options, one I don’t agree with.

six months until all the food and fuel was consumed / then they spread like the social parasites they are having exhausted and destroyed the host

If all the hosts are destroyed, the parasites die; they can’t move on because they’re dependent on the host for sustenance. Look at how this played out in Rhodesia.

The most, to me, disturbingly revealing things about the essay are the tone & content of many of the comments which are,:

    1. California’s a librul pesthole that should fall off into the ocean. America’d be better off.
    2. Californians are librulz who infect the rest of the country w/ their librul disease & should be stopped from escaping their pesthole.
    3. Thank God WE aren’t like THEM!
    4. What this country needs is SOMEONE who’ll set things RIGHT!

    And from the foreigners,:

    See #3.

For said foreigners, typified by the self-righteous Cahnayjunzuh, Capt. Rusty said it best: “You’re welcome”. What most of you non-Americans refuse to admit is that it’s been US, the ‘unlettered, uncivilised, unwashed, greedy, violent, vulgar, & OH so stupid’ Americans that’ve largely made it possible for you in the ‘civilised’ parts of the world to live your indolent lives in relative peace & prosperity by keeping the intl lid on while simultaneously addressing our domestic concerns & helping others improve their economic situation.

Tell ya what, howzabout YOU ‘compassionate & wise’ people out there who can do SO much bettah than we have get up off your ‘superiah’ backsides & take OUR place as the planetary cop/mommy for awhile so we can fix our country? We sure could get a LOT done w/ all the money we’d have available, might even end up looking like, say, Canada, or Sweden, or France, maybe even Switzerland. Who knows what we could accomplish w/o all those pesky & expensive obligations! Ga hed, sports, the line, pardon ME, the QUEUE forms on the left, your collectively favourite side, have at it.

And now, for the smugly sanctimonious Americans whose opinion of/attitude toward California/Californians almost equals that of the foreigners toward America/Americans, this,:

Give Elvis’ “Clean Up Your Own Backyard” a listen & do as ‘The King’ requested. Also, comprehend that we in the once ‘Golden State’ not only allowed the Leftist vermin from the rest of the country to come out here & work their destructive will on us, we often aided & abetted them happily. Just like YOU. It’s regularly said that Californians have a ‘laid back attitude’, are ‘open minded’ & ‘tolerant’. That’s generally true, we are, & that’s not entirely a bad thing. However, we thought that our common sense would protect us from the Leftist infection the eastern invaders brought w/ them & assumed that our laid back attitude would seduce them & eventually dissipate their contamination. In other words, we were ‘nice’ to them & are paying the price for that arrogant softness. JUST LIKE YOU. As some of the commenters noted, not all of us out here in the P.D.R.C. fit the stereotype & in fact vehemently oppose our Leftist overlords/their agenda, but unlike our more fortunate compatriots the majority of the decent Californians are either stuck here or would rather go down fighting than run. If I could, I’d bounce outta here like a Super Ball shot from a cannon, but you have to have somewhere to land & someway to support yourself/others afterward & as most of us who’d split have neither, here we are, waiting for the denouement. But we won’t go quietly, or alone.

And those of us who’re worth a damn that survive & escape will be some of the coldest, hardest, meanest fighters you folks in the rest of the country ever heard of/saw.

Remember that, & watch your mouths.
