Spot on.

Be your own harshest critic – and then work to fix that which is criticized.

  1. Excellent article and honest to the core.

  2. “If you’re incompetent, you can’t know you’re incompetent. […] the skills you need to produce a right answer are exactly the skills you need to recognize what a right answer is.”—David Dunning
What a total crock of shit that statement is.The Dunning-Kruger Effect is a ‘first world’ problem. It is all those idiots on American Idol that think they can sing because they were raised by families that only always praised them for being the exceptional, wonderful, talented persons that they…..are not!
In a world where being competent means you live, and being incompetent means you don’t, it becomes very clear who is and who is not. People are not blind. Throughout my life, people I know and myself when asked to do this or that would say,”ok, but I’m not very good at that.” I have never known anyone who falsely believed they could do something that they could not do, except little children. And most of them had a pretty good sense of their capabilities.

    • Your post almost illustrates his point (but thanks for your humble admission toward the end) because those of us who have been overseas can testify that it’s a 2nd and 3rd world problem, too.

  3. best article i’ve read in months… now reading the others on the site – excellent.

This explains all the whack jobs coming home from the wars of aggression. The chickens always come home to roost.

Reblogged this on The Lynler Report.

  7. There was a study that showed American children are almost the most poorly educated compared to other first world countries, but had the highest confidence of all, in their abilities. I ran into it so long ago I can’t remember who ran the study, but it might have been one of those federal Dept of Education things that got buried, like other examples of bad news.

    • Absolutely true. Murikin kids are even dumber than their parents. Always running around, screaming, ice cream and snot running down their shirts, dirtying or destroying everything in sight. HEY YOU KIDS! GET OFF MY GRASS!
