    • Yup, spring turkey season is nigh, Go get some. Every trip caN serve multiple purposes. Scout gam all year long. Take your compass, explore new areas within your ao. Lots of good resources on the web. Lots of trails out there. Altitude gains are our friends. Track your weekly vertical.

    Better to have a good, solid position though, I think. Well provisioned with good natural resources. And men. Armed men. Enough to protect that position and enforce your will over the natural resources.

    You be ruckin’, you be runnin’. You will have nothing and will be unable to hold ground.

    • I’m in agreement with you, OLP, and there’s no earthquake. I live at my retreat, CA has visited, so knows what it’s like.

      Growing food requires in situ preparation. Chickens don’t travel well or easily.

      While I can see emergent ruck marches in extremis, I don’t see them from places that are already out of the mainstream. If they are required, I’ll be dead. Y’all can come back and claim my retreat for your use if that’s the case.

  3. Insoles nowadays on most new boots and shoes are garbage. Manufacturers have really cut corners in this area over the last 10 years to lower cost. Make sure you spend additional $ for the proper arch support. Also sudden increases in exercise and adding weight without proper conditioning can also exacerbate plantar faciitis and Morton’s neuroma. Do not hesitate to see a specialist when it comes to your feet. If you lose your feet you are screwed.

      For you Veterans,
      I’ve gotten an enlarged tendon under one foot, VA Hosp just made me some awesome custom insoles in Jan., go see them if possible. Tell them your feet hurt from standing all day. Took about 3 weeks for delivery. Once I break these in and they’re the right size, I can order several more pairs, FREE.

    • That ain’t all. My knees are shot, no gun and run for me. If you are over 50 and suspect anything hinky with the knees have a MRI done. I could prevent future damage.

    Sadly most gun owners I know walk around with a built in pack, actually pouch. It would take them a year or more to walk down to basic training graduating weight.

    Now’s the time to do this-it ain’t something you can just start doing after months-or years- of laying on the couch watching the idiot box,or sitting at a computer all day.
    It is in everyone’s best interest to be in the best shape possible in about 8 months or so.
