  1. And all the greenwoodistani’s lined up to pay the fees while chanting “were free” and “murika!”

  2. The Usual Suspect

    Death of a thousand cuts.

    • Exactly right. They are afraid of us and our guns. They must because the law of the jungle demand it, be very circumspect in how they take a little bite here, and a little bite there of our primal rights to property and self defense of tyrants.

It is government by Bill of Attainder:

      Bill of Attainder
A bill of attainder (also known as an act of attainder or writ of attainder or bill of pains and penalties) is an act of a legislature declaring a person or group of persons guilty of some crime and punishing them, often without a trial.
A bill of attainder (also known as an act of attainder or writ of attainder or bill of pains and penalties) is an act of a legislature declaring a person or group of persons guilty of some crime and punishing them, often without a trial. As with attainder resulting from the normal judicial process, the effect of such a bill is to nullify the targeted person’s civil rights, most notably the right to own property (and thus pass it on to heirs), the right to a title of nobility, and, in at least the original usage, the right to life itself. Bills of attainder were passed in England between about 1300 and 1800 and resulted in the executions of a number of notable historical figures.

The use of these bills by Parliament eventually fell into disfavor due to the obvious potential for abuse and the violation of several legal principles, most importantly the separation of powers, the right to due process, and the precept that a law should address a particular form of behaviour rather than a specific individual or group. For these reasons, bills of attainder are expressly banned by Article I, section 9, of the United States Constitution (1787) as well as by the constitutions of all 50 US states.

When you have a pen and a phone, well shit, the world is your oyster and you can commit any act of treason and tyranny that tickles your fancy.

  3. But, the Vast Majority of the Federal Agents, who will enforce this astoundingly ridiculous edict against your neighborhood gunsmith, are good guys who just want to do the right thing!

    • When you were in the Army you did what you were told.

Not if it was an illegal or unconstitutional order… but I’m sure you blindly obeyed all orders which is probably why you made SFC and I did not. I was busted for refusing a direct order in a war zone … it didn’t matter that I was right and the prick officer was wrong, I was busted anyway. There will always be a certain number of “soldiers” who won’t obey an illegal order… most will… a small group won’t.

As to the EO of the 2nd tyrant from Illinois, I’m thinking they will just keep “making policy” until most all gun owners are felons and then the boys in blue and green who have never seen a law they won’t enforce or an order they won’t obey will be called in to “fix the problem”. Plenty of cops and soldiers today believe citizens should not own weapons… just ask the prick Gen Petreaus.

      • When I was in the Army, I was under UCMJ authority. I could not simply resign and find another job at my whim. If I was given an unlawful order, I was duty bound not to obey it.

Policemen and Federal Agents can not only refuse an unlawful order, they can quit their jobs, at their whim, and find employment in the real economy. The fact that they choose to stay and abuse those whose they supposedly serve, says who they are. If they give full support or acquiescence to bullies, thugs, and murderers, they are of the same ilk.

I am waiting hopefully (sarcasm implied) for hundreds of ATF agents to resoundingly shout, “No, boss! I ain’t doin’ it!”, and resign their office. Because, you know, the Vast Majority and all…

This new redefinition forces regular gunsmiths to either quit their chosen fields of work or pay the vig which is $2250.00 every year for the privilege of being registered with the Dept. Of State. What do they get in return for this fee? They get a promise they will not be prosecuted this year for failing to register. Then they get to do it again next year. They also MUST apply (beg and pay) for a new type of FFL, Type 7, which is a manufacturer’s license (permission slip), even though they manufacture nothing.

The men who enforce this think it is just Ducky. If they didn’t they would resign in disgust.

        Respectfully, LB

      • That’s exactly what will happen. I remind everyone that the vast majority of the non-seceded states’ soldiers had little trouble traveling south to the lawfully seceded southern states and murdering those that resisted their invasion.

Only about 35% of the US army officers resigned their commissions in 1861, among whom was Robert E. Lee. Naval officers had a much lower resignation level, so low it’s seldom mentioned in histories. The 65% level of military obedience is expected to be the norm in the current military, but the advantage of high levels of queers, lesbians, and other colorful soldiers will increase as time goes by. This internal destruction of the US military via Sodomite and other egalitarian policies is a good thing, for us.

With the current level of armed US government thugs, over 200,000 now, we’ll see a target rich environment. Most of them are being hidden away, but not for much longer.

        • Mr. Hines,

Interesting statistics you cite. Just reinforces that the Constitution will mean little to those in .mil should the SHTF.

    • danielkday

The legislative answer to this on August 1 is a cut, pick your favorite percentage, in the BATFE budget effective August 2.
I’m not saying I EXPECT this to happen, I’m just saying it might be an effective suggestion for the assignment of priorities.

  4. He’s referring to the tactics.

  5. Every gunsmith I know is now machining barrels,
Fitting suppressors and blueprinting parts for performance cars boats and lawn mowers.

    Odd!

  8. An executive order is not a law. Everyone should simply ignore him.

    • The idea is to outlaw people, not their guns. To outlaw self determination. Outlaw the primal right of property. Because that is the first thing, property. Your gun is your property.

This diktat is purposefully vague. As all diktat is intended.
It is like the diktat that requires a $200 tax stamp for class II weapons. They couldn’t outlaw machine guns and other weapons, so they placed a $200 fee on registering them. In 1934 200 bucks was an enormous cost.
$2500 bucks to machine metal in your own home?
What’s next here, where does this crap end?
It’s a felony to own a chamber reamer.
Think of the creative destruction here too. The scope of manufacturers and suppliers of gunsmithing tools, parts, and components. The economic effects on that enormous industry will be like shutting down the coal industry.
      It is about control.

  9. Remember this-there’s a whole lot of machine tools available as the small shops that have survived are upgrading to new generation CNC machines.
There’s a lot of manual lathes and milling machines for sale-just require math skills, and the ability to read micrometers/calipers.
Get your shop set up now.

  10. That executive order is at least half-clever; I think many people will avoid doing gun metalwork to avoid trouble. I wonder what the stated penalty, and the real-world penalty, are for not getting the permit? A fine? A felony?

  11. I’ve a really stupid question to ask (not knowing how your government works). It comes from bitter experience of our UK government where things just get worse as ‘new management’ moves in, never better.

So what makes you so sure that a change of president will change things back to what they were before all this stupidity ensued?

    • Everyone thinks trump will fix everything here in fusa. Thats how sad its become.

Trump paraded some IT worker on a stage and he said somethin to the tune of “i cant wait for trump to make amerika great again”. So what happened to the people making amerika great again? Seems everyone is sitting around wating for him to do it.

If hes elected he’ll be an instant lame duck as congress’ personal and political financial interests would be in ruins is he does do what he says he will do.

    • “So what makes you so sure that a change of president will change things back to what they were before all this stupidity ensued?”

Many here will disagree with my answer, but here it is:

The UK does not have a written Constitution that can be carried about in a vest pocket, nor does such Constitution as the UK is said to have explicitly protective of certain rights to the point where, fro time to time, groups of citizens can hold up a hand and say “stop” — and “go back!” — to the State, and have it stick.

We have both (the easily portable, easily understood writtten Constitution and its explicit protection of certain rights), and we have rolled back many laws (gun and non-gun) by the simple expedient of — wait for it — voting at them. I call to witness, the maps of shall-issue states and of permitless open-carry states over the past, shall we say 25 years?

      Some few examples: https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A0LEVx6iQ59XQcYAO0NXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTE0OXNhOWh2BGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDQjIxOThfMQRzZWMDcGl2cw–?p=shall-issue+states+map&fr=yfp-t&fr2=piv-web

    • It’s not a stupid question, it is as relevant as it gets.
There is no voting our way out of this: TINVOWOOT.
Voting was an instrument of freedom for keeping from getting into a position in the first place where there is no voting ones way out of something.

Have a question for you. You believe Brexit is going to change much of the tyranny against your primal rights, or the cultural marxist that infest your government, you face in Great Britain? Your entire great nation, one who once stood alone against fascism, is disarmed down to steak knives. What you going to do if it gets real sporty and you as a dirt person need to seriously defend yourself from tyrants?
Seriously, I’m not being facetious. It is an honest question.

“So what makes you so sure that a change of president will change things back to what they were before all this stupidity ensued?”

I have no illusions at all that things are going to change for the better.

    • Hillary’s track record of deceit, murder and corruption make Trump a safe bet.

  12. You know, I used to loathe the idea of voting rule .308. Not so much now.

  14. Can you IMAGINE the outrage if such regulations were applied to the dildo manufacturers/importers? To “basketball shoes”? To commercial coffee machines?
It is an academic question, as the force ratios are NOT in favor of Mordor.

The cops might just for the easy targets…each other. There’s a lot of them who think that by busting each other, they can advance in rank (pirate ship theory):

(This story is VERY incomplete. I couldn’t find out exactly what this guy is accused of. If anyone else knows, please enlighten us.)

  16. There is no going back and anyone who thinks so is a fool (and probably a dead one at that). Listing to a HRC interview the other night, her stance that the government can place ‘reasonable restrictions’ on Rights should be a wake up call to anyone out there – BHO also stated his true intentions early on and who listened or paid attention? If you are going to purchase or ‘stack deep’ just do it with no expectation at this point in the game of ever (never ever) seeing an America that you might have known years ago – not coming back. If the order is given to ‘pick them up’ – it’s going to happen unless there is severe push back ….. plan accordingly.

  17. SiGraybeard

I don’t know, CA. The way I read this it has no effect on anyone gunsmithing at home as long as they’re not in business. The first words are “Any person who engages in the United States in the business of manufacturing …” If you’re in business, yeah it’s a bitch, but if you’re building out an 80% AR at home for yourself, or modifying your own guns, it doesn’t apply.

I’m a guy with tools (some of which are guns). What I choose to do with them is not under federal regulation.

  18. Uncle Larry

Federal agents, like ICE and ATF, make over $100,000 per year, must retire at 57, and get a pension near $70,000 per year. Not bad for a high school education. They may require some college these days.

  19. What a bitch! That’s the big EX-ORD. to end gun violence in America? The big plan to stop the ghetto blasters from ghetto blast’in? What a puss!
Talk about showing your hand! This must be new plan from the commie brain trust; We’ll piss off a bunch of old target shooter’s that want to protect their hearing. they’ll in turn start shooting things up. we can declare marshal law. cancel the election. And make Obama the” self-appointed president for life”!
They must be getting desperate. Seeing how they can’t get King Shabazz, and his corn feed crew off the pipe and out of the house long enough to make a decent riot. Burn down whitey, kill’z him a bunch O’ craker babies!
I mean, they can get a decent murder spree from the goat humping, butt-ups, but the ignorant bastards shot up “mochelle”s” favorite night club!
What else can an, “educationally inbred” commie do? Putting Pedophiles in little girl’s bathrooms, and gunning down cowboys along side the road don’t seem to be work’in? Maybe their expecting a bump from naming a battle ship the “Harvey Milk”?
Well, it is kind of working. I’m really pissed right now! And I’ll stay that way till at least lunch time! AARRRGH! (that was my war face).

  20. That which is not prohibited is now made mandatory

Go ahead, pass all your “laws” and executive orders.
    See what happens.

  21. “Listen, and understand! That “SHADOW GOVERNMENT” is out there! It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear! And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead!”
