I must commend you on this recent commentary. You often write pertinent, well-written essays. This is one.

Helping a non-believer is admirable; is it worth the effort? We’ve been prepping (in ernest) since Y2K so WTFU and smell the coffee!

Frame of Reference; “Fides Quaerens Intellectum”… Faith seeking Understanding.

Anselm of Canterbury apparently didn’t waste any of his effort on those who do not already believe; helping an adult without special skills, who has not already figured-out that we are neck-deep in “shit” (political-corporate corruption on a global scale), may not be the best use of a believer’s time, talent, or resources….

But exploitation can be an option….😉

  4. Been reading up on Pashtunwalli this weekend. Interesting stuff.

ITBAR: Itbar, which means trust, or guaranteed assurance or is the arch of society, which is governed by un-written laws or conventions. All business including contracts relating to sale and mortgage or disposal of property, is transacted on the basis of trust or Itbar. Such transactions are verbal and are entered into in the presence of the village elders or a few witnesses. The violation of Itbar is considered to be dishonorable act, un-becoming of gentleman and contrary to the norms of Pashtunwali.

MLA TARR: Mla Tarr, which literally means `girding up of loins’ denotes two things. Firstly it is used for all such members of a family who are capable of carrying and using firearms. Secondly, it means espousing the cause of a man against his enemies and providing him with an armed party. The tribesmen resort to Mla Tarr when a person belonging to their village or tribe is attacked, mal-treated or disgraced by their enemies.

LOKHAY WARKAWAL: Lokhay Warkawal literally means `giving of a pot’ but it implies the protection of an individual or a tribe. A weaker tribe to a stronger one with the object of ensuring its safety and security generally gives Lokhay. It is accepted in the form of a sacrificial animal such as a goat or a sheep. When a tribe accepts a Lokhay from another tribe, it undertakes the responsibility of safeguarding the latter’s interests against its enemies and protects it at all costs.

TOR: Pashtuns are sensitive about the honor of their women folk and slight touching of the women is at times considered a serious and an intolerable offence. The cases of adultery and illicit relations are put down with iron hand in and no quarter is given to culprits either male or female. Casting of an evil eye on woman is tantamount to imperil one’s life. Both sexes, therefore, scrupulously avoid indulgence in immoral practices.

GHUNDI: Ghundi is a classic case of balance of power in tribal areas. It is derived from Pashto word Ghund, meaning a political party but it is used for an alliance. As modern states enter into bilateral agreements for promotion of trade, cultivation of friendly relations and mutual defense, similarly various sections of a tribe align themselves in blocs or Ghunds to safeguard their common interests. Ghundi is entered into defeat the aggressive and nefarious designs of a hostile neighbor. In tribal fighting the Ghundi members espouse their mutual interests against their common enemy and act as a corporate body with all the resources at their command.

Interesting stuff for interesting times. Stay positive, keep prepping and smile. We’re all gonna die, might as well enjoy the ride.

  5. Join the honorable resistance, think and live outside the box. That is what real resistance and defiance.

    As StealthSpaniel said yesterday:
“…Make your own life, your own destiny, using your own rules. And if you can change the game to make ‘the’ rules *your* rules, even better…”

Grow food, make things, learn a practical trade, find God, love yourself, disconnect from the matrix.
Most of all, find out, I mean truly discover, what property is, that is the first thing.
All around the matrix has so many they don’t know what property is, they think it is something they are obligated to divvy up to leeches and an organized crime syndicate called the state. Or property is something gotten free with no effort but being owed it as a victim, like being a victim was a trade or a job, because others have more than you sorry ass.

You got to have dignity of liberty, without it your a looser, because you loose, you have no balls, no courage, your only a cog in the machine, no matter how hard you work or what you make for money or how many toys or trophies you got your a fucking useful sucker. Like a useful dupe.
But that idea of property, it is primal, it belongs to you, all of it, what you produce, your guns too are property, that is the first thing. It is primal, property, like your body, your faith, the fruit of your labor.
The answer is you got to get busy being free or get busy being a slave. There is no middle ground on this, your a primal sovereign Freeman, or your a slave, everything else is pure bullshit.

  6. A thought experiment: Change muslim’s for 97% 0f American’s, change Christian terrorist attacks for 3% of American’s who refuse to submit to anything who choose to live in self determination no matter what.
Does a lightbulb go off over your head?

    • That works out to be over 99% in actual when going with those numbers. The point is made though.

  7. Most people live in a (It can’t happen here mode), therefore they think preping is a fools game. I have worked in many areas of the world where tumultuous change occurred and it happens very quickly. I do not waste my time on the ignorant , instead I concentrate on family and close friends.

  8. The insurance analogy doesn’t hold. The man had a few accidents, thus it is a statististical possibility it might happen again.

Societal collapse is a black swan event and thus by definition is a statistical improbabilty.

It’s about math, people, and many if you don’t understand math.

    • MichiganJim

      >>>It’s about math

The fundamental epistemic error. The math is about it.

    • Apparently, some of you don’t understand grammar.

    • You mean like a city that was once one of the richest most productive cities on the planet falling into disrepair and irrelevance?…. “statistical improbability” indeed DETROIT…… Even more “improbable” that it could happen in less than 50 years.

    • The need for insurance is primarily a function of the COST of the “improbable” event. If the cost is tolerable, you should self insure, since insuring is a negative sum game. If the cost is unacceptably large, or completely unknown, insurance is a must. That’s the math of it…See Anti-Fragile.

    • I’ve never had an accident in nearly 40 years on the road. But I keep Comprehensive insurance on everything. It’s only a few $s more and it ensures replacement value IF damaged or destroyed. Prepping is a no- brainer. It’ll be funny as hell when some tough guy retard shows up “when things get loud” and thinks he’ll take ‘anything’ more than his last couple of breaths…

      ROTFLMAO!🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 :)-

    • Riight…
With insurance, at the end of the year one has nothing to show but a receipt. Whereas provisioning for future physical needs, whether occasioned by loss of income, illness, supply disruptions etc provides options, along with tangible goods at years end.

You do plan to eat, right?

Many misinformed folks consider risk only as probability, thus unlikely to happen which becomes in their view inconsequential.
      Until it happens.

True risk is defined by probability multiplied by consequence. Thus a very small probability times consequence represents a far greater risk than many are willing to acknowledge.

    • So you don’t believe the situation that occurred in the former Yugoslavia was a societal collapse? What about Argentina? I didn’t qualify the societal collapse by magnitude/degree, just that it has happened in our lifetimes. It doesn’t have to happen to you to make it pertinent to the actions you take to mitigate the threat. If that was the case, most people wouldn’t carry a gun simply because they had never been robbed or assaulted. I used something that I knew was a personal experience of his to make the point to him (and it did), nothing more, nothing less.

    • The insurance analogy does hold, you fail to consider the last 5,000-6,000 years of human history. Pray tell, find me the Kingdom of Assyria on the map. How about the Holy Roman Empire? Is Ergodan the ruler of the Ottoman Empire? I can imagine Putin might have something to say if you claimed the Khan Empire still existed. You tout the gambler’s fallacy (maturity of chance) as proof of your mathematical acumen. Tell me empires don’t fall, every time. Partially, or fully, there is a 100% probability that the United States Empire will end. It is a statistical improbability that I will die on any given day. I doubt anyone here would take that as proof I am immortal. It is a statistical improbability societal collapse will happen anywhere, yet I present Czechoslovakia, USSR, most African nations, Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Lybia, Iraq, and Ukraine within the last 20 years. If it can’t happen, then why are you here? Don’t waste your time on idiots like us and go back to Isaac Asimov and the Foundation series. Math is useful, but certainly cannot quantify the infinite number of variables in geopolitics.

    • SameNoKami

It’s about people and you don’t understand people.
The veneer of civilization is very thin.
Societies never collapse until they do.

    • statistical improbabilities…eventually happen. We’re close. And Hillary is here to help

The Battle is in the Mind.
“Conscio animo parati superessendam favet” translated in english:
“Survival favors the informed prepared mind”.

The Empire never ended & all roads lead to Rome.
Since the Shadow Government (pharisee occulted powers) are hellbent on orchestrating a epoch sea change or Black Swan global malthusian catastrophe in history for a plethora of reasons. Namely, the fraud of western civilization’s origins. Too deep for here so nuff said.

I suspect preparations would & should be in order.

The Battle is in the Mind first.
“Conscio animo parati superessendam favet” translated in english:
Survival favors the informed prepared mind.

These are the Precincts of Pain. A Goddess lives here her name is Victory.

Nietzsche had it right back then he knew…

    The New Idol

Somewhere there are still peoples and herds, but not with us, my brethren: here there are states.
A state? What is that? Well! open now your ears unto me, for now will I say unto you my word concerning the death of peoples.
A state, is called the coldest of all cold monsters. Coldly lieth it also; and this lie creepeth from its mouth: “I, the state, am the people.”
It is a lie! Creators were they who created peoples, and hung a faith and a love over them: thus they served life.
Destroyers, are they who lay snares for many, and call it the state: they hang a sword and a hundred cravings over them.
Where there is still a people, there the state is not understood, but hated as the evil eye, and as sin against laws and customs.
This sign I give unto you: every people speaketh its language of good and evil: this its neighbour understandeth not. Its language hath it devised for itself in laws and customs.
But the state lieth in all languages of good and evil; and whatever it saith it lieth; and whatever it hath it hath stolen.
False is everything in it; with stolen teeth it biteth, the biting one. False are even its bowels.
Confusion of language of good and evil; this sign I give unto you as the sign of the state. Verily, the will to death, indicateth this sign! Verily, it beckoneth unto the preachers of death!
Many too many are born: for the superfluous ones was the state devised!
See just how it enticeth them to it, the many-too-many! How it swalloweth and cheweth and recheweth them!
“On earth there is nothing greater than I: it is I who am the regulating finger of God.”—thus roareth the monster. And not only the long-eared and short-sighted fall upon their knees!
Ah! even in your ears, ye great souls, it whispereth its gloomy lies! Ah! it findeth out the rich hearts which willingly lavish themselves!
Yea, it findeth you out too, ye conquerors of the old God! Weary ye became of the conflict, and now your weariness serveth the new idol!
Heroes and honourable ones, it would fain set up around it, the new idol! Gladly it basketh in the sunshine of good consciences,- the cold monster!
Everything will it give you, if ye worship it, the new idol: thus it purchaseth the lustre of your virtue, and the glance of your proud eyes.
It seeketh to allure by means of you, the many-too-many! Yea, a hellish artifice hath here been devised, a death-horse jingling with the trappings of divine honours!
Yea, a dying for many hath here been devised, which glorifieth itself as life: verily, a hearty service unto all preachers of death!
The state, I call it, where all are poison-drinkers, the good and the bad: the state, where all lose themselves, the good and the bad: the state, where the slow suicide of all—is called “life.”
Just see these superfluous ones! They steal the works of the inventors and the treasures of the wise. Culture, they call their theft—and everything becometh sickness and trouble unto them!
Just see these superfluous ones! Sick are they always; they vomit their bile and call it a newspaper. They devour one another, and cannot even digest themselves.
Just see these superfluous ones! Wealth they acquire and become poorer thereby. Power they seek for, and above all, the lever of power, much money—these impotent ones!
See them clamber, these nimble apes! They clamber over one another, and thus scuffle into the mud and the abyss.
Towards the throne they all strive: it is their madness—as if happiness sat on the throne! Ofttimes sitteth filth on the throne.- and ofttimes also the throne on filth.
Madmen they all seem to me, and clambering apes, and too eager. Badly smelleth their idol to me, the cold monster: badly they all smell to me, these idolaters.
My brethren, will ye suffocate in the fumes of their maws and appetites! Better break the windows and jump into the open air!
Do go out of the way of the bad odour! Withdraw from the idolatry of the superfluous!
Do go out of the way of the bad odour! Withdraw from the steam of these human sacrifices!
Open still remaineth the earth for great souls. Empty are still many sites for lone ones and twain ones, around which floateth the odour of tranquil seas.
Open still remaineth a free life for great souls. Verily, he who possesseth little is so much the less possessed: blessed be moderate poverty!
There, where the state ceaseth—there only commenceth the man who is not superfluous: there commenceth the song of the necessary ones, the single and irreplaceable melody.
There, where the state ceaseth—pray look thither, my brethren! Do ye not see it, the rainbow and the bridges of the Superman?—

    Thus spake Zarathustra.

  17. Somewhat off topic from the OP, but not….
I believe the redoubt is a trap. Refugees are being shipped in to create a conflict. The political and cooperative law enforcement is in place and will be further manipulated to effect as well. It’s an area of containment and battleground eventually open for strong military/law enforcement force, such as air, tank, drone, satellite surveillance, etc.

    Something to think about, anyways.

The rest of America will be entertained by it all on the television and twitter. Most will support the ultimate destruction of both “terrorists”. Any bleed off to major cities or areas outside will be just another good reason for more government and action regarding this type of people.

  18. Started withY2K? Are y’all daffy? This “prepping”/militia thing started in 1946 about 15 seconds after the first Russian “A” bomb newsreels were shown in theaters. It REALLY took off in the “bomb shelter fifties”. Cooled down when the hippies came along. Then cranked right back up to its full paranoid glory for the “survivalist / militia” craze/fad under Ford/ Carter/early Reagan. Cooled off again(briefly) in the late 80’s. Then went “off the rails” for the Bush/Clinton/Bush/Obama gun control, white man church burning, oil war and military police state craze and hasn’t slowed down since. It is getting almost as popular as it was when Elvis was in the Army–ALMOST. Truth is that obsessive “prepping’ is something people do when they feel helpless. It makes then FEEL like they have some control over their lives. It alleviates (somewhat) an otherwise helpless fear. My attitude can be summed up in a line from the movie “The 13th Warrior” “The skein of your life was woven by the Oldfather long ago. Hide in a hole if you like, but you’ll live not one moment longer. Fear profits a man nothing”. If I have a purse fat with silver enough food and ale. Then I’ll let the gods figure out the rest. No one lives forever. AND you cannot take it with you. Our ancestors knew that. We have forgotten.

Good read & a only few things to comment. Nothing too heady, lol..

The Battle is in the Mind.

“Superessendam favet animus paratus ad certiorem” translated:

“Survival favors the informed prepared mind”

“These are the precincts of Pain. A Goddess lives here. Her name is Victory.”

Nietzsche while a bit NOIR at times, he had it figured out &
    knew way back then.

Friedrich Nietzsche, Twilight of the Idols

“The free man is a warrior”‘

    Twilight of the Idols

“My conception of freedom. — The value of a thing sometimes does not lie in that which one attains by it, but in what one pays for it — what it costs us. I shall give an example. Liberal institutions cease to be liberal as soon as they are attained: later on, there are no worse and no more thorough injurers of freedom than liberal institutions. Their effects are known well enough: they undermine the will to power; they level mountain and valley, and call that morality; they make men small, cowardly, and hedonistic — every time it is the herd animal that triumphs with them. Liberalism: in other words, herd-animalization. These same institutions produce quite different effects while they are still being fought for; then they really promote freedom in a powerful way. On closer inspection it is war that produces these effects, the war for liberal institutions, which, as a war, permits illiberal instincts to continue. And war educates for freedom. For what is freedom? That one has the will to assume responsibility for oneself. That one maintains the distance which separates us. That one becomes more indifferent to difficulties, hardships, privation, even to life itself. That one is prepared to sacrifice human beings for one’s cause, not excluding oneself. Freedom means that the manly instincts which delight in war and victory dominate over other instincts, for example, over those of “pleasure.” The human being who has become free — and how much more the spirit who has become free — spits on the contemptible type of well-being dreamed of by shopkeepers, Christians, cows, females, Englishmen, and other democrats. The free man is a warrior. How is freedom measured in individuals and peoples? According to the resistance which must be overcome, according to the exertion required, to remain on top. The highest type of free men should be sought where the highest resistance is constantly overcome: five steps from tyranny, close to the threshold of the danger of servitude. This is true psychologically if by “tyrants” are meant inexorable and fearful instincts that provoke the maximum of authority and discipline against themselves; most beautiful type: Julius Caesar. This is true politically too; one need only go through history. The peoples who had some value, attained some value, never attained it under liberal institutions: it was great danger that made something of them that merits respect. Danger alone acquaints us with our own resources, our virtues, our armor and weapons, our spirit, and forces us to be strong. First principle: one must need to be strong — otherwise one will never become strong. Those large hothouses for the strong — for the strongest kind of human being that has so far been known — the aristocratic commonwealths of the type of Rome or Venice, understood freedom exactly in the sense in which I understand it: as something one has or does not have, something one wants, something one conquers. ”

    Thus spake Zarathustra
