In other news, you and your readers might be interested in a free resource provided by the Wilderness Medical Society (WMS). All of the articles for their journal, Wilderness and Environmental Medicine, are available free without login at http://www.wemjournal.org/ , only the most current issue excepted. There is a wealth of information here regarding medical care in austere environments.
I particularly recommend the “Consensus Guidelines” series on subjects from hypothermia to snakebite. While it’s written for a medically-trained audience, a diligent reader with a dictionary should be able to derive substantial benefit. They’ve recently begun a quarterly podcast that summarizes recent articles that’s also good.
