    Nobody paid any attention to the Wrights (and the mention of the invention of the transistor in this article). Both were absolutely monumental advances in human history.

    I’ve heard it said that those who are one step ahead of everyone are considered geniuses. Those who are two steps ahead of everyone are considered crazy…

  5. I read a lot of tech journals in my job and these days I actually see the opposite effect as far as the general MSM goes. Example — http://www.newatlas.com and there are more like it on the ‘Net. To these type of sites, everything is NEW even when its just a rehash depicted using CGI. aka it does not even physically exist yet. Will they still miss ‘the next big thing’? Sure because their butts are too lazy to consider downstream effects of a simple working prototype and with all the hay being made about something glitzy they won’t see it.
