What (organised) church were the pilgrims attempting to escape?

  2. who cares what these mackerel-snapping sodomites are up to. Bergoglio is Pope. Whether Ann Elizabeth likes it or not. As I have said: she needs to nail her theses to the Vatican’s door.

    • Yeah, it’s interesting how she constantly rails against Protestants, yet she herself is now engaged in a “protest” against the RCC because she thinks it is in error.

      • Isn’t Ann B. a convert? Converts often go all in. It’s why Johnny Suburbia converts to Islam and decides to shoot something up within a few months. It’s why every obnoxious teenager who discovers atheism immediately has to don a fedora and find every opportunity to interject why whatever you believe is wrong.

She’s teeter-tottering on the edge of sedevacantism. There’s an interesting subculture – people so Catholic that they become Protestant because the Catholic Church isn’t Catholic enough. The wild-eyed focus on “sodomites” is curious.

There’s a lady in my town who drives around with stuff written all over her van and a link to her blog, where she exposes the REAL, HIDDEN MEANING behind words in the tray liners at McDonalds, all the secret references to penises hidden in everything, and how it all relates to 9/11. I am not making this up.

My point: I’m not trying to D&C here, but people should be careful to not take the words of any random internet blogger as gospel truth, even if she’s a right-winger who trolls Muslims and totes an AR.

  3. To bad you didn’t recognize the uprising of the common man in this last election and you threw your lot in with the Romans. Can’t believe you posted this. You truly are clueless of the plight of middle class, white, patriotic Americans. Sad.

      • What question? “If you will not hear the truth, no one can tell you”. Barnhardt’s ears must be full of mud.

CA: I believe Peter is referring to Miss Ann, This girl is, unfortunately, an obsessed one-trick pony when it comes to her Catholicism. She reminds me of the actor in MARY QUEEN OF SCOTS who said the line: “…there are two kinds of people, Catholic and heretic.” That kind of obsessive mindset has led to religious wars and persecutions throughout history.
I was raised Catholic. I left when it became apparent that the “follow the money” meme was their modern-day plainchant. When you add on the “liberation theology” of the (Marxist) Maryknoll Order and Cardinal Roger Mahoney’s and other Diocese cover-ups of sodomites and rampant pederasty, the lump under the carpet got too big to conceal.
If you pin down one of these “conservative” true believers, they will tell you that unless you are a baptized Catholic, you are going to Hell. That is what I was taught by the Sisters of Saint Joseph at St. John Baptist De La Salle School in Granada Hills, CA in the 1950’s. End of story.

        • “obsessed one-trick pony.”

After her “call to arms” to physically destroy all the priceless art, sculpture and architecture of the Vatican she had officially joined Ozzie on the Crazy Train.

Yes, that’s their position. I came out of the wilderness of agnosticism looking to reestablish my Christian faith, and am still doing so really. One of the next questions you struggle with is “whose version is correct, when so many claim theirs and only theirs is the right one?” Most of those, the RCC included, delve into obscurantism and legalism for their proofs. In the Bible, Christ Himself states that all who believe in Him have eternal salvation. I guess I am just skeptical of any church that asserts the right to put asterisks next to that.

        • Yes, sad. Another example: Beautiful Catholic video that starts out with the Coptic martys – their last words, Ya Rabbi Yeshua or Oh Lord Jesus. In the comments some people start saying that of course it was all for nothing since they can’t be martyrs as they are not Catholics.

  4. “Pontius Pilate (Latin Pontius Pilatus, Greek: Πόντιος Πιλᾶτος, Pontios Pīlātos) was the fifth prefect of the Roman province of Judaea, from AD 26–36.
He served under Emperor Tiberius, and is best known for presiding over the trial of Jesus and ordering his crucifixion.
In 1961, archaeologists led by Antonio Frova discovered in Israel a block of limestone imbedded in a section of steps leading to an Amphitheater in the Roman city Caesarea. The inscription includes the following:
“Pontius Pilatus, Prefect of Judea has dedicated to the people of Caesarea a temple in honor of Tiberius.”[1]
Emperor Tiberius reigned from 14 to 37 AD, which verifies the New Testament account that records Pontius Pilate ruling as governor from 26 to 36 AD.
The early governors of Judaea were of prefect rank, but later were of procurator rank.
Tacitus, a first century Roman historian, also mentioned Pontius Pilate:
“Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus…”[2]
Besides Tacitus others like Philo of Alexandria, and Josephus also speak of him as well as the four canonical gospels; the Gospel of Nicodemus; the Gospel of Marcion; and other apocryphal works.
Pontius Pilate’s title was traditionally thought to have been procurator, since Tacitus speaks of him as such. However, an inscription on the limestone block known as the Pilate Stone — a dedication to Tiberius Caesar Augustus — that was discovered in 1961 in the ruins of an amphitheater at Caesarea Maritima refers to Pilate as “Prefect of Judaea”.
When applied to governors, this term procurator, otherwise used for financial officers which was a chief roll of Pilate in Judea, connotes no difference in rank or function from the title known as “prefect”.
The procurators’ and prefects’ primary functions were military, but as representatives of the empire they were responsible for the collection of imperial taxes. It cost money to maintain a peace keeping force in Judea.
He had limited judicial functions which would include usurpation or rebellion against the local government.”

  7. boss21, if I drink myself into a stupor, I actually WILL waste brain cells. But when I read the Bible on a daily basis, I feel refreshed and I’ve learned something. You once had a little faith. What drove it out of you? Oh, in case you were wondering, that G*d you don’t believe in? He means you no harm.

    • Sorry for confusion. I have no problem with God the creator. My beef is with those who claim to work for Him.

    • Amen Sean, a man who dines on the Word of God is like a man who eats healthy, nutritious food. He’s a vigorous thriving man with strength and energy. A man who ignores Gods Word is a spiritual anorexic, skinny, weak, tired and exhausted. I believe our Lord said: “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

  8. boss21, not to worry, and I’m glad I didn’t insult you, I’m a little too quick with that, and I need self-discipline. As to people who believe they work for G*d, you will know them by their fruits. The basic thing of being in the Will of G*d, is just doing your job, whatever it is, in life. The rest, is much like the Threeper Doctrine, no first use of force, no targeting of innocents, etc. Everyone knows, or should know, that common sense dictates that you have to make exceptions to even that, given that our enemies have NO RULES except one: Conquer. Since Christianity is not a suicide pact, taking the initiative regarding the status of the loyal opposition, (attacking rather than waiting to be attacked, and thereby winning instead of losing) is going to happen. The moral high ground is an illusion, since war is about the most immoral thing a man can get involved in. Integrity, and Keen Judgement will rely on its’ use consistent with the situation at hand. Does that sound like situational ethics? It’s not. If being attacked, you defend, and go over to offense as soon as you can. If you’re about to be attacked, and attacking instead of waiting will accomplish your mission, ( survival, + win) then you attack. Christ never suffered fools in His Presence while on earth. Witness the one liners He slew the Sadducees and Pharisees with so effortlessly. Being in the Perfect Will of G*d is: Do your job. Protect and support the widows and orphans. Give generously to the poor, which you will always have with you. Render to Caesar what is Caesars, and to G*d what is G*ds. Seek G*d in prayer, every day, and He will find you, not the other way around. Some times, like in the days past, a Christian has to become like a Crusader, and pick up the sword. My arms are old, and my powers are weak, but I will pick up that sword. If for nothing else, to take out a few of them before they hit the second line of young and strong. You see? If you want to be like a king, you must find the good in every thing.
