Never reinforce defeat.
Robert, this is the most encouraging assessment of the current situation regarding Trump and what it all means. Kudos to you Sir, as I believe your analysis is mostly correct.
I would take issue with one point towards the end of your article. You said, “Trump’s supporters have a hard time believing their man’s primary motivation is acquiring power”. I believe Trump’s primary motivation is fulfilling the promises he made during his campaign. The main component of the entire MAGA agenda cpuld be summed up as getting the Deep State and Globalist boot off the neck of Main Street business and off the neck of all of us individually. And the only way Trump can accomplish this against the combined forces of Wall Street, the Democrat-Communist party, the GOPe, the mainstream propaganda media, and foreigh Marxist players such as Soros, is to acquire and consolidate real power, and be willing to use it. So acquirng power is a necessary but secondary motivation behind his primary motivation of MAGA.
The concern you are expressing is that Trump will consolidate power and then becone a dictator. While this is always a possibility, I believe that allowing things to continue essentially unchanged with the Deep State and the entrenched permanent government still calling all the shots is the greater risk by an order of magnitude.
I don’t know if he’s right, but I hope he is. Our system has failed and we need a Strong Man. A good one. The idea that all Kings or Dictators are the same, as in equally bad, is simply wrong. Do you really think he is the same as Obama or Hillary? It’s not optimal, but again, our system failed a long time ago. We didn’t keep the Republic but turned it into a Plutocracy that covers itself with Democratic rags for a cover.
“Our system has failed and we need a Strong Man. A good one.”
The nation would want Cincinnatus.
The nation would settle for Pinochet.
The nation will likely get Stalin.
Trump’s got one foot in the (((Deep State))) camp.
and one toe in the Nationalist camp.
but I’ll credit him for not finishing off Syria on behalf of the Judeo-globalists.
Well Haxo, if Robert is on to something here, then all of your Trump (((rants))) will become the millstone around your neck, with each days’ revelation of our cunning President’s latest termination..or..determination.
Somewhere, Aesop is smiling. 😁
“Our system has failed and we need a Strong Man. A good one. The idea that all Kings or Dictators are the same, as in equally bad, is simply wrong.”
Such words are totally indicative of someone who DOESN’T believe in the unalienable human rights of the individual and yearns to be either a bloody jackboot for a potential tyrant or a fawning bootlicker to the tyrant at his table.
All Kings and Dictators aren’t the same?
I think I’ll trust a far wiser man on this matter:
“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.”
– John Emerich Edward Dalberg Acton, first Baron Acton (1834–1902)
This from Robert’s essay:
“There has been a tiresome litany of articles about Trump’s capture by the deep state, characterizing him as a puppet for the military and Goldman Sachs. Whatever idealism motivated his run for president is gone and he’s now supposedly just an errand boy. The commentators who bemoaned the firing of Michael Flynn dusted off their articles, changed and rearranged a few things, and bemoaned the departure of Steve Bannon. Poor Donald’s all by himself in big, bad Washington. Except he’s mowing down his enemies one by one (it looks like James Comey may be next), and he’s got the deep state cornered. As for his associates, if there’s one clear lesson from Trump’s life it’s that everyone—wives, employees, Goldman Sachs flunkies, generals, you name it—is expendable. Some of those he’s terminated in the past probably thought they had the upper hand…
Donald Trump didn’t risk all for the Iron Throne to let Goldman Sachs and the military run the show. He has allied with those power centers, but he’s calling the shots. Trump has allied with another power center: state and local police departments. He has given them fulsome, vocal support, encouragement to be more brutal, rescission of President Obama’s civil asset forfeiture rollback, and promises of more military gear. This is what one would expect of a ruler bent on consolidating his power—secure the praetorians. The Bill of Rights won’t stand in the way of sealing that alliance.”
Trump is first and foremost a narcissistic sociopath and as such perfectly tuned for being in the offal orifice in Mordor on the Potomac.
Make no mistake, he was vetted by people in the shadows that are much more powerful than george sorros or the rockefeller family. “MAGA” was the Swan song that dumpf played on his parasite class pipe and people were beguiled by the emperor’s “new clothes”, enough so to renew the illusion of ‘consent of the governed/legitimacy of authority” (and if that fails he’s making sure to access dominion/loyalty from the badged orcs and orcettes, Bill of Rights be damned!!).
Here’s a couple of videos that help to explain things related to the above:

Larken Rose: My Thoughts On Donald Trump & Politics
A poster a Robert’s site had this reply; it works for me!
“Trump is his name, snake oil is his game,
A flim flam man seeking his fame,
A stirrer of passions ever so keen,
A lifelong liberal behind the scene,
Conning the masses with populous bullshit,
He has all the charm of a muzzi armpit,
Using the persona of a gold plated dog turd,
He counts on the gullibility of the unwashed herd,
peel away the crap from this two bit charlatan,
You may find a genuine dime store harlequin.”
slaves and citizens NEED a “Master/Strongman”
Free men and women DON’T!!!

And another that’s apropos..
Power is a curious thing
My apologies for the repost, was mistaken in the thought that Larken’s King video didn’t post properly.
I’m not especially worried about Trump consolidating power. We all knew, a year ago, that this wasn’t going to end with a nice, constitutional, friendly vote.
I want a king on my side, not a hands-tied constitutionalist.
Bring it on.
“Donald Trump didn’t risk all for the Iron Throne to let Goldman Sachs and the military run the show. He has allied with those power centers, but he’s calling the shots.’
If you think he actually calls the shots please review the Zapruder film and then get back to me. If he was “off script” he’d already be pink mist. He is the pin stuck in the grenade.
